LHC CJ says essential to follow preventive measures to contain coronavirus spread

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan has said the citizens must strictly act upon the precautionary measures issued by the government.

He stated this while inaugurating the walkthrough disinfecting tunnels at the entrance and exit routes of the LHC on Tuesday.

LHC senior judge Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti, Justice Muhammad Shahid Waheed, Justice Shahid Karim, Punjab Water Commission Head Justice (retd) Ali Akbar Qureshi, LHC Registrar Bahadur Ali Khan and other LHC staff members were also present on the session. Speaking to the media, the LHC chief justice said Pakistan was facing coronavirus pandemic and all citizens should follow the guidelines, issued by the government to prevent the spread of disease. He added that the tunnels had been installed at the LHC entrance gates to ensure safety of lawyers and litigants in the wake of coronavirus threat. He said the Water and Sanitation Agency’s provision of the tunnels was commendable.

The top judge of the province said the country was passing through a critical phase owing to coronavirus but the citizens would have to defeat this contagion. “It is essential to follow the government’s precautionary measures if we want to overcome this crisis.” He urged the people to confine themselves to their homes rather than moving around freely.
