KARACHI: The nation awaits action by Prime Minister Imran Khan against those responsible for the sugar crisis after the investigation committee’s report on the matter, said Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab.

In a statement on Monday, Wahab said the report had raised questions about the Centre’s performance, adding that the PM should penalise those responsible for the crisis, who were his own close friends.

“The federal cabinet applied the subsidy on sugar and we believe it is responsible for the sugar crisis,” he contended. “We don’t accept the excuse of the forensic audit report. It is nothing but a U-turn to save those involved.”
