SHAHDADKOT: Three activists of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), in protest against the party leadership's 'cold response', attempted self-immolation at Koto Moto roundabout in Shahdadkot on Wednesday.

The three activists, Niaz Baloch, Shaban Jamali and Munawwar Mangi, in order to record their protest on being ignored by PML-N's senior leader Ghaus Ali Shah, sprinkled kerosene oil on their clothes, but despite several attempts were unable to set themselves on fire. The failure to set themselves on fire proved amusing for the crowd that had gathered to see them and they opted to laugh at them instead of making efforts to stop them.

The activists were later able to set some parts of their clothes on fire, which was eventually extinguished and they remained unhurt.

Seemingly one of the activists on failing to attract attention fell down flat and was taken to a local hospital from where he was later discharged.

The PML-N activists have accused Shah of overlooking seasoned party workers and favoring those who do not enjoy reputation in the ranks. It is pertinent to mention that Munawwar Mangi was removed sometime back from Pakistan Peoples Party (Shaheed Bhutto) and had joined PML-N.

As per the law, a case is registered in the area police station against those who try to immolate themselves, but since the concerned SHO was not available, no case could be registered against the activists.

Ghous Ali Shah is a seasoned and mamoth leader of the Sindhi people. His services during his tenure of CM during the 1980s for interior Sindh remain unmatched by any succeeding or preceding adminstration. At that time, he was a non-party CM. Shah does not need to be a part of the Muslim League as all the approval of the interior Sindhis lie with him as he is one of the only few national level politicians who has not been implicated or even rumoured to have any charges of corruption or embezzlement during all his tenures. *This is just another attempt to undermine the position of Shah within Sindh because he enjoyes a position where all the political parties have invited him to join their party and attain a high rank though he does not because of his principles. He recently went to condole President Zardari's father's death where he was greeted by the President and asked to join the PPP, hinting at possible PMship.

Anybody, who is remotely familiar with the political scene of Interior Sindh knows that Ghous Ali Shah is definitely a potent force within provincial and national level politics and his word most definitely counts.
