1,613 workers hired for Pindi dengue drive

Existing anti-dengue workers of the district being trained according to new standard operating procedures

RAWALPINDI: After a spell of heavy rains in the region, the Rawalpindi Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr Sataish on Monday said that the prevailing weather is conducive for the breeding of dengue larvae and that there is a need to combat it on an emergency basis to prevent another outbreak like the one which happened last year.

Chairing a meeting to review anti-dengue activities in the district at his office on Monday, she said that so far, some 1,613 workers have been recruited for the upcoming anti-dengue campaign. However, she added that the process for hiring additional workers to meet the 2,000 worker mark was underway.

Dr Sataish added that existing anti-dengue workers of the district are being trained according to new standard operating procedures (SOPs) identified by the Punjab government.

The ADC stressed that anti-dengue efforts should vigorously continue in all areas of the district to intercept virus.
