‘Adhere to Islamic teaching for a healthy life’

Scholars call for adopting an integrated and holistic approach to achieve ultimate success

Religious scholars on Sunday called for tuning nutritional intake in light of the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

This was discussed during a two-day international moot on ‘Prophetic guidance regarding nutritional health’ at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU). The event was arranged by the university’s department of Seerat Studies, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Speakers emphasised the need to adhere to Islamic teachings to have a healthy life and spoke about the importance of consuming Halal and hygienic food. They referred to various sayings and practices of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) relating to good health and food habits. A balanced and moderate lifestyle, close to nature and spiritual values was the main factor of His teachings, they added.

Dr Yasin Mazhar Siddiqui from Aligarh University in India and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIU) Hadith Department Chairman Professor Dr Fathur Rehman Al-Qurashi were the keynote speakers.


They shared their knowledge and the latest studies on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. They asserted that the golden principles of life as preached and practised by the Holy Prophet (PBUH), are imperative for a healthy and successful life. They called for adopting an integrated and holistic approach to achieve ultimate success in all spheres of life.

Earlier, AIOU Seerat Studies Department Chairman Dr Shah Moeenuddin Hashmi highlighted the objectives of the seminar.
