Dengue Control Programme to hire 2,400 people

Preventive measures would be intensified in the areas where dengue cases were reported last year

RAWALPINDI: The district health authority of Rawalpindi has started recruiting 2,400 workers for the Dengue Control Programme, 400 entomologists and sanitary patrol workers, officials said.

These workers will be deployed in the field after training. Dengue larvae have been found from eight places while the health workers in seven areas were found submitting fake duties and reports have been revealed, they said.

Since last year, focus of health authorities and the district administration has been on search and destroy missions for dengue larvae.

With the advent of spring and warmer days, dengue surveillance has been intensified to prevent epidemic. Preventive measures would be intensified in the areas where dengue cases were reported last year.
