Travel Essentials For All Food Lovers

Hitting the road soon? Or catching flights with long layovers and a tight budget? If yes, then food should be one of the most important essentials for you to pack. When it comes to food and packing, one stays limited since it is not advisable to carry containers filled with the usual food that is cooked at home. The key is to stay energized for you to get through the long trip with a fresh mind, not a filled stomach per se.

If you are one of those who crave different types of food during their travel, we are here to tell you what to pack, how to pack and be extremely smart with your food-based decisions while travelling:

1)    Hard-boiled Egg And Cheese Sandwich:
Make sandwiches your best friend. They are light to eat, easy to carry and are extremely healthy to munch on. You don’t want to spend the night before the big day preparing sandwiches and exhausting yourself, so make sure to keep it simple with a basic hard-boiled egg and cheese sandwich. You can make a mixture of the two by adding in mayonnaise and using it as a spread on your bread. Make sure to cut the sandwiches in half once they are ready to store them easily and more efficiently.

2)    Fruits:
One of the easiest items that can be carried with little to no problem, fruits help you feel energized and fill you up without you realizing. Many different types of fruits can be stored such as bananas, plums, peaches, oranges, grapes etc. If you’re feeling even the slightest bit motivated, you can even cut all the fruits and store them in an air-tight container for your travel. Remember, you don’t want to buy any sort of pre-cut fruits from stores since they are stored longer than usual and contain more bacteria than one can imagine.

3)    Nuts And Dry Fruits:
While travelling, we often choose to buy snacks sold at local stores. You can choose to skip that by mixing a number of nuts – almonds, peanuts, pistachios – in a container and munching on them whenever your stomach feels empty. Since winter season is still around, dry fruits such as cashew, walnuts, raisins can also be stored for long periods of time.
If you’re on a road trip and need a drink to fill you up, take a large flask and make this delicious date and almond shake for some fresh energy (Remember: You cannot take liquid into the airport terminal so this is only for the road!)

4)    Granola Bars:
Here is a basic and one of the oldest essentials that has been popular for generations now. Granola or Energy bars are easy to carry, nutritious bars that can be munched on at any time of the day. If you feel your stomach is growling more than usual and vitality levels are drowning, granola bars are an active source of protein and fiber to curb any cravings one faces during meals.

5)    Cookies And Brownies
You can’t skip out on sugary snacks while travelling. No matter how much you convince yourself to stay healthy, it’s perfectly okay to ‘break’ once in a while and munch on something sweet. Cookies, brownies, muffins and pretzels are probably the easiest desserts to carry while travelling and they remain everyone’s favourite.

Store, pack and tuck these scrumptious items and munch your trip away. Remember, stay hydrated, filled and enjoy your trip with these simple travel essentials. The primary goal is not to fill you up, but mainly to keep yourself energized and lively throughout the travel day or night. You can always add some more items you deem essential and tweak the list in your best interest!
