GILGIT:

More than 300 people protested against the brutal killing of Ahle-Sunnat Youth Faction leader Mirbaz on Friday.

The protesters gathered near the Yadgar Chowk after Friday prayers and demanded the arrest of the culprits who opened fire on the slain religious leader on Thursday.

“We will keep protesting until the culprits are arrested,” said Maqsood Ahmad, a protester.

Mirbaz was ambushed near his house as he was driving home on Thursday night. His death spurred panic in the area, which has witnessed several sectarian skirmishes in the past.

According to eyewitnesses, two people riding a motorbike opened fire at Mirbaz, killing him on the spot.

“We are investigating the incident, and the culprits will be arrested soon,” said a Cantt Police Station official.
