The show, which depicts the dramatic history of the Royal family beginning from Queen Elizabeth coronation in 1952, will lead up to the inevitable next chapter with Lady Diana.
The third season of the show ended with Prince Charles, Diana's former husband and his now wife Camilla ending things. In the filming of season 4, Princess Diana's role is played by actor Emma Corrin, who looks like the late princess even without any costume or makeup.
Social media has been catching glimpses of behind-the-scenes of season 4 since October last year, but with the latest sneak peek this week, it's safe to say the comparisons are doing Princess Diana justice, reported InStyle.
Ravishing red
We see Corrin dress in an iconic 80's Diana look in the first photo. The vibrant red polka-dot dress and hat looks both classy and chic, a true testimony to the late Royals classic yet feminine style.
The classic beige coat
In the second picture, the actor wears a camel trench coat akin to one that Princess Diana also wore regularly in the '80s. Beige, neutral-toned trenches are also making a comeback this winter in the fashion world, and only reaffirms that Princess Diana's style transcends to present day.
Pretty in pink
Another uncanny side-by-side shows her donning a bright pink waist-cinched dress and matching fascinator. Pink seemed to be a favourite shade of Princess Diana's and we adore how feminine yet put-together the rendition of this famous ensemble is.
Wonder in white
Possibly the most similar look to Diana which made us to a double take is from a beach scene wear the actor is wearing a simple white dress. Forever a lady, Diana sure knew how to dress for every occasion.
While it is exciting to see the images nailing Princess Diana's look, it's not clear whether the Royal family will be happy about Diana's appearance. In the past they've reportedly been angry over other elements of the show. Recently Prince Harry said he would try to "stop" the show if they wanted to portray him and Meghan Markle.
