PESHAWAR: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser on Saturday said that owing to rigorous efforts of the government, the country is close to achieving financial stability.

He said this while addressing a public gathering after inaugurating the Rs81 million Jhanda- Pabini Road in Swabi district on Saturday.

He said that the federal government is close to achieving its target of making the country a true welfare state apart from strengthening its economy.

The NA speaker said that when they came into power, all public entities were in facing serious financial problems and the country was caught in a storm of economic uncertainty owing to the alleged corruption and mismanagement of past governments.

All promises made to the public, including stabilizing the economy, eliminating corruption, and accountability of the corrupt will be fulfilled, he promised.

The NA speaker further announced that a survey will be launched for constructing a college in the Kandao village. Furthermore, separate electricity feeder will be built for the area and tube-wells will be installed in the Boko, Jhanda and Kandao villages to resolve the water crisis there.

He said that once the 220-kilovolt grid station in Burhan is completed, it will resolve all problems related to electricity in Swabi. Further, he said that a scheme for people affected by the Ghazi-Barotha project has been approved and consultants have been hired for the project.
