Award Ceremony: KU student wins science prize

won the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Regional Prize for Young Scientists.

KARACHI: Dr Sammer Yousuf, a student of Karachi University (KU), won the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Regional Prize for Young Scientists. The award was given during the AFRO-ASIA workshop on Advanced Topics in Chemistry, held from June 13 to June 17 at the TWAS regional office for Central and South Asia located at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, India. Dr Yousuf was selected for this honour from over 30 oral presentations of scientists from 10 regional countries. Dr Yousuf is an assistant professor and is working at the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, KU. She is among the few chemists of Pakistan working on single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique.
