Ex-colonel 'abducted for raising voice for missing persons'

Advocate Inamur Rehman whisked away from his home in Rawalpindi on gun point

RAWALPINDI: Colonel (retd) Inamur Rahim, an advocate working for the recovery of missing persons, was abducted by unidentified men in Rawalpindi late Monday.

Husnain Inam, in a complaint lodged with the police, said that his father was whisked away by armed persons clad in black uniform from his residence in the garrison city.

He was taken away in double cabin cars, he said, adding that the kidnappers threatened the family members of consequences if they reported the incident to the police.

The whereabouts of the abducted lawyer are still unknown.

Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) chairman Syed Amjad Shah has condemned the kidnapping, claiming that “advocate is being victimised for his having vocally raising voice and lodging protests against constant incidents of missing persons and even approaching the courts of law for their safe recovery”.

The association demanded the government and institutions concerned to take action against the kidnappers, and ensure the immediate release of the retired army officer.
