ISLAMABAD: Former Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday appeared before NAB and submitted answers to 20 questions in the Roshan Sindh programme corruption case.

The anti-corruption watchdog had summoned the former CM at NAB’s old headquarters at 2pm. Sources said Qaim submitted answers to 20 questions sent to him to further the investigation into the illegal contracts of the solar system in different districts of Sindh.
On Monday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) extended the pre-arrest bail of former Sindh chief minister till December 19 in the Sindh Roshan project case.

A division bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani conducted hearing on the interim bail plea of PPP's leader Qaim in the corruption case.

During the course of proceedings, Justice Kiyani asked NAB officials to submit their response against the plea. The NAB prosecutor replied that his department had not issued arrest warrants so far against the petitioner.

“NAB has no intentions to arrest Qaim until arrest warrants are issued against him,” he said.

The petitioner's lawyer prayed the court not to dispose of the petition rather extend the interim bail of his client.

He pleaded that his client was not involved in any corruption in this case, adding that the former chief minister had only given approval for the programme.

The court accepted the request of the petitioner and extended the interim bail of Qaim till next date of hearing.

The division bench of the high court had previously approved pre-arrest bail petition of Qaim till December 9.

NAB is holding an inquiry into complaints of massive corruption in Roshan Sindh project initiated by the provincial government for installation of solar streetlights across the province.
