QUETTA: Balochistan Finance Minister Zahoor Ahmed Buledi said Islam has defined the rights of all sections of the society and issued strict guidelines for the protection of women and their rights.

"Provision and implementation of rights of women can help stop violence against them," Buledi said in a statement on the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

He affirmed that in Baloch and Pashtoon cultures, women are respected, but in societies where there is poverty, ignorance, lack of awareness about women's rights, violence against females is a common practice due to insecurity and other negative factors.

Buledi added that the provincial government, under the leadership of CM Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan, is ensuring the protection of all sections of the society.

"Balochistan CM has specially instructed the establishment of anti-harassment cells in all the districts of the province, as these  departments will help address the problems affecting women,” he said.
