Cricket history shows that the Pakistan Under-23 team has not won any ACC emerging cricket tournament in the past

HYDERABAD: The fourth addition of the Asian Cricket Council Emerging tournament is underway in Bangladesh. The Under-23 Pakistan team has upset its archrival India in a nail-biting semifinal by 3 runs at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.

In the thrilling match, Pakistan set a competitive target of 267 against the former ACC Under-23 champions. Opening batsman Omair Yousuf and middle order batsman Saif Badar were brilliant with the bat making 66 and 47 runs, respectively. In reply, the India Under-23 team failed to chase the target in their allotted 50 overs.

Cricket history shows that the Pakistan Under-23 team has not won any ACC emerging cricket tournament in the past while Sri Lanka has won twice and India once. This is indeed a great opportunity for our emerging players to bring the first ever ACC Emerging Cricket trophy home.

In addition, the Pakistan men’s senior team should learn from the emerging young talented boys who are playing extraordinary cricket and are unbeaten in an ongoing ACC Emerging tournament.
