The IHC's Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani heard a petition of the PMDC's sacked employees challenging their termination and dissolution of the council.
PMDC employees protest against body’s dissolution
The petitioner's council said the parliament's role had been ignored through promulgation of the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) ordinance. It was through this ordinance that a new body – the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) – was formed to replace the PMDC.
He said the court had been told that no new hiring would be made in the PMC but despite this claim new recruitments were made for the PMC.
The court adjourned hearing of the case as it directed the respondents – the federal government and the attorney general for Pakistan (AGP) to submit their replies by December 5, the next date of hearing. The replies were to be submitted on Monday but the respondents failed to submit them.
