QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal has directed the authorities concerned to ensure that development projects announced for the ongoing fiscal year were completed within their deadlines.

Chairing a meeting, the chief minister stressed the importance of completing uplift projects on time to ensure the provision of relief to the people.

Planning and Development Additional Chief Secretary Abdul Rehman Buzdar and Finance Secretary Noorul Haq Baloch briefed the chief minister about the new and ongoing development projects.

Buzdar informed the participants of the meeting that 1,781 new development schemes had been included in the fiscal year. He added that work was under way on 665 schemes and all departments were keenly monitoring their projects.

The chief minister directed the planning and development department to assist other departments in the completion of their projects. Kamal particularly directed the speedy completion of Turbat-Pasni highway.

Chairing another meeting to review the progress of the departments, Kamal said there was a need for chalking out a mechanism for impartial distribution of funds.

“We believe in equal development opportunities for all districts,” he added.

Sharing his views on the province’s healthcare sector, Kamal stressed the need for the digitalisation of government hospitals and nursing schools. He said it was necessary to equip government hospitals and health centres with enough manpower and other resources to cater to the requirements of the people.

Speaking on the educational sector, Kamal said the government had to build more schools in the rural areas.

He added that the government initiative of establishing four primary, two middle and one high school in all districts would be completed.

“The government has been using all available resources for educational development in the province because we can't even think of a better future without quality education.”

The chief minister directed the sports department to boost its activities across the province. He noted that the government was building sports complexes in all districts.

He maintained that previous governments did not pay adequate attention to revenue generation.

Livestock Expo meeting

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal on Tuesday said investment will increase in the province through the Livestock Expo which will promote Balochistan’s positive image nationally and globally.

Speaking during the introductory session of the first Livestock Expo in the province, Kamal said investors and multinational companies will pay attention towards Balochistan following the mega initiative.

“The expo is the biggest event in the province’s history. We are examining all the necessary work being done for the inaugural ceremony, including the security plan,” Kamal said. The Livestock Expo will be held in University of Balochistan from 18 to 20 November.

Provision of facilities

Chief Minister Kamal also addressed the Christian community in Quetta's Christian Town and vowed provision of facilities.

"Without good governance and effective policies the government cannot yield positive outcomes for the public’s ease hence we have been working on development schemes with long-term benefits," said Kamal while criticising the previous regimes over their flawed policies and waste of public of money and resources at their hands.

Provincial minister Noor Muhammad Dummar and senior leaders of Balochistan Awami Party were also present on the occasion.

CM Kamal said provision of quality health, education and clean drinking water facilities are important to every individual in the society. He assured the Christian community that their issues will be addressed on priority basis.
