RAWALPINDI: After the closure of Out Patient Departments (OPD) in allied hospitals in a garrison town, the young doctors shut down indoor services and operation theatres (OTs) on Wednesday.

On the 18th consecutive day of YDA strike against Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Act, the indoor services, as well as OTs in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) and Holy Family Hospital (HFH), were shut down too, adding to the suffering of the patients.

The patients awaiting operations on the day were exasperated after knowing that operation theatres have been closed while many families were forced to move their patients to private hospitals as there is no clue of when the strike will be called off.
