Police arrest 20 ‘street criminals, drug peddlars’

They seized weapons, stolen items from the criminals

KARACHI: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested 20 suspects in different operations in the city and to have seized drugs, weapons, and stolen items.

Orangi Town Police arrested two suspects, Muhammad Ishtiaq alias Ashtiaq Mama and Asif Shah. According to the law enforcers, four bottles of imported liquor were seized from the suspects and a case has been registered against them under the Drugs Prohibition Act.

Suspects identified as Raheel and Umair were also arrested by Orangi Town Police in a separate operation allegedly over charges of street crimes and other criminal activities. Police claimed to have seized two 30bore pistols with four bullets from the suspects.

Meanwhile, Mominabad Police arrested seven suspects in separate operations. Aqib, Sajid, Shan, Aqeel, Shaukat alias Shoki, Rashid and Dawood are allegedly involved in motorcycle lifting, street crimes and drug dealing. According to police, weapons, drugs and a motorcycle were seized from the suspects all of whom have prior cases registered against them.

Certain life-saving drugs in short supply

Separately, SITE Area Police arrested six suspects from Khyber Chowk, Pathan Colony and surrounding areas. Yasir, Abdul Wahid, and Usman, are allegedly involved in street crimes while Shamrez, Afsreen and Fazalur Rehman are allegedly involved in drug peddling. The police claimed to have seized two TT pistols, stolen motorcycles and drugs from the suspects who are under interrogation.

Besides, Special Investigation Unit Police arrested three suspects identified as Khushdil, Afzal and Gulzamin. According to police, the three-member group has been involved in several robbery incidents in the city.
