Traders call for curbing street crimes in Karachi

KARACHI: Troubled by the rise in street crimes, management of a textile company in Korangi Industrial Area has written a letter to Korangi SSP, demanding that effective actions be taken against street criminals active in the area. The letter states that people are frequently mugged at gunpoint in Korangi Industrial Area. It mentions that incidents of mugging, robbery and snatching mostly take place in the morning and evening, and the rise in crime rate has adversely affected the industries set up in the area. It has also been highlighted in the letter that burglars often taken advantage of usual traffic jams in the area and easily escape after robbing off citizens stuck in traffic jams. The company’s management has suggested in the letter to ensure regular patrolling and checking on streets to curb the crime rate in the area.
