KARACHI: Following a fake bomb threat on Tuesday, the bomb disposal squad found three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) during a search operation at the Garden Police Station. The IEDs were seized by the police in 2002 and were kept at the police station since then. Over time, their structure had loosened, which could have caused them to explode any time, leading to massive destruction. Each of the IEDs weighed around 4.5 kilogrammes and was loaded with 2.5 kilogrammes of explosive material. According to Garden SHO Zahid, the bomb disposal squad informed the police officials that the IEDs were a ticking bomb and could have exploded any time as their structure had become loose. Inspector Amir and Inspector Kashif from the bomb disposal team transported the IEDs to a desolate area near Super Highway, detonated them, and disposed them of. SHO Zahid said that the IEDs were seized from the possession of a group of terrorists and were case properties.
