LAHORE: Issuing directions from Saudi Arabia, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar directed the cabinet committee for price control to launch a crackdown on profiteers. He stated that the sale of essential items should be ensured at rates fixed by the government. No leniency would be shown to those found selling essential items at exorbitant rates, he said. Administrative officers should regularly visit markets to ensure price control and no excuses would be accepted with regard to the implementation of the price control system. The CM ordered to take practical steps to overcome the artificial price hike. He maintained that the initiatives taken for providing relief to the people should be visible to everyone. Price control magistrates should venture out of their offices and check the rates of different items in markets.
