LAHORE: A local court summoned singer Rabi Pirzada on September 27 on charges of illegally possessing crocodiles and snakes.

The Punjab Wildlife Department, on September 11, charged the singer with illegally keeping dangerous reptiles, such as snakes and crocodiles, in her home.

The department took action based on the actress’ social media account on which she posted pictures of crocodiles and snakes. Later, Model Town Court judicial magistrate Harris Siddiqui summoned the singer on September 27.

The actress, who was charged by the Wildlife Department, also alleged that the litigation was initiated as a result of the statements she made against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pirzada said she had been caring for these snakes and crocodiles for five years, but did not own them.

The Wildlife Department was obliged to notify the actress that the reptiles and crocodiles are not allowed to be kept in the house.
