NICL scam: Court asks for progress in Warraich’s case

Former federal minister challenged confiscation of his passport and placement of his name on Exit Control List.

The Lahore High Court on Monday summoned an investigation officer in the National Insurance Company Ltd (NICL) land scam, Tariq Javed,  on July 13 to inform the court about progress in the case of accused Habibullah Warraich.


Former federal minister Warraich is presently on bail, but his passport is in the Federal Investigation Agency’s custody. Warraich has challenged the confiscation of his passport and placement of his name on the Exit Control List.

On Friday, a deputy attorney-general told the court that the interior ministry could delete the name of Warriach from the ECL on the recommendation of the FIA.

However, a representative of the FIA on said that the agency had to recover Rs420 million from Warraich.
