Female cop

Letter September 17, 2019
Violence against women remains unchecked and women remain vulnerable

SWABI: Some time ago, a lawyer slapped an on-duty lady constable who cautioned him for parking car wrongly. He was arrested and produced in court. The other day the lawyer was acquitted and then he filed a petition against the lady constable. According to some reports, the constable has decided to leave the police force.

I feel that it is high time for organisations working for women’s rights to come forward and raise their concern about the increasing incidents of violence against women. Violence against women remains unchecked and women remain as vulnerable as ever. Our society should learn to respect women. Those committing violence against women should be dealt with an iron hand.
