Pakistan has the second-highest number of out-of-school girls in the world. The attitude regarding girls’ education is a significant factor in determining the progress of a nation. Lack of education means that millions of girls continue to face discrimination, violence, neglect, exploitation and abuse.
Pakistan has the sixth-highest female population in the world. In many rural and even urban households, girls’ education is still considered unimportant and they are kept to menial housework. The saying goes, ‘Educating a woman is like educating a nation’. And yet it’s devastating to witness the lack of investment and efforts when female education is concerned.
Acknowledging the importance of educating girls, Lifebuoy Shampoo recently launched a campaign to awaken the nation to this pressing issue 'Beti Parhao, Usse Mazboot Banao.' The campaign fruitfully underlined how mothers are looking out for their daughters, investing in their dreams, sending their daughters to school and making them stronger for the future.
Understanding the magnitude of the problem in regards to female illiteracy, Lifebuoy Shampoo, by partnering with The Citizens Foundation (TCF) aims to reach a wider audience. With #BetiParhaoUsseMazbootBanao, they intend to confront the stifling age-old parameters in which girls are raised up.
A commercial was released that rendered how a parent, especially a mother, plays an eminent role in being the protagonist for her daughter’s stronger future by giving her the gift of education. She hopes that her daughter becomes a strong, self-sufficient woman who will reach new heights and shall take a stand for herself whenever it is required. Lifebuoy Shampoo also introduced special edition bottles in order to inspire optimistic women to speak their minds and step up for their daughters.
In order to tackle female illiteracy, Lifebuoy Shampoo made an unprecedented move by raising awareness not only via their commercials but also on TV shows. The brand hosted a special program on a popular morning show with Pakistan’s eminent celebrities Nida Yasir and Wasim Badami. The show familiarised audience with TCF’s mission and urged parents to send their daughters to school, without further depriving them of their basic education.
Isfandyar Inayat, General Manager at TCF, supporting Lifebuoy Shampoo's initiative, explained their institution’s easy and affordable enrolment process. The famous hosting duo Nida Yasir and Wasim Badami exchanged a few words with the female students and praised their mothers for their applaud-able decision of sending their daughters to school.
