Cinema video

Sharing such videos are not going to serve any purpose rather result in highly negative repercussions

KARACHI: Recently, a video surfaced showing a number of couples engaged in intimacy in Emporium Cinema of Lahore. I don’t know what was going on in the minds of the people who leaked the video on internet, making it viral in just a matter of minutes. However, he/she might not have thought that the lives of those shown in the video might be ruined if, God forbid, they get recognised. In this regard, I really appreciate Waqar Zaka who took to the internet at the right time and criticised this heinous act of sharing private videos of people publicly. Zaka aptly said that sharing such videos are not going to serve any purpose. Rather, they will result in highly negative repercussions. Girls might go as far as to commit suicide to save themselves of humiliation. I also appreciate the DG FBR who has ordered an inquiry to hold the cinema house responsible for leaking this video.

Having said this, it is time that some rules and regulations were introduced and applied to protect privacy rights. Cinemas should only be allowed to install night vision cameras on condition that they will never share the videos with the public in any circumstances. Furthermore, notices should be installed so that people are aware of the presence of CCTV cameras.
