QUETTA: At least six terrorists, including a woman, were killed in a raid by security forces in Quetta on Wednesday.

Balochistan's Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel carried out an intelligence-based operation during which a woman reportedly blew herself up by detonating her explosive vest.

According to initial reports, the five-hour long operation was carried out at a compound near the eastern bypass by a joint team of CTD and intelligence agencies. A huge cache of arms and explosives were also recovered.

Radio Pakistan reported that at least three CTD personnel were injured in the operation.

Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan felicitated the security forces for the successful operation and prayed for the early recovery of the injured officials.

Earlier in May, security forces killed the Balochistan chief of proscribed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi during an intelligence-based operation in the Killi Almas area of Balochistan, said a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

A Pakistan Army officer, Colonel Sohail Abid, was martyred during the operation and four other soldiers were injured during the security operation.

The operation was conducted on intelligence obtained from a high-value terrorist arrested earlier by security forces. Intelligence pointed to the presence of the LeJ chief and presence of suicide bombers at the terrorist hideout.
