ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday reiterated that the government was striving to provide all possible facilities to businessmen in order to accelerate economic activity in the country.

"The government is giving top priority to the ease of doing business as it is a must for accelerating economic activity," he said while talking to a delegation of leading industrialists and businessmen at the PM Office.

The government was also focusing on generating business activity as it would create employment opportunities and reduce poverty, he added.

PM Imran invited the industrialists and businessmen to present proposals to the government for improving the national economy. The process of policy and planning would be taken forward effectively in accordance with these proposals, which would help improve the economy, he stated.

"The government will continue the consultation process with all sectors of the economy and meetings with the business community will be held regularly," he stressed.

The business community expressed confidence in the government's economic policies and praised efforts of the economic team for betterment of the economy.

The business community presented a number of proposals to the government for the promotion of investment, privatisation, increase in tax revenues, institutional reforms, expansion of tax net, preparation of annual budget, capacity building and creating job opportunities.

The meeting deliberated on the proposals presented by the business community. The prime minister directed his cabinet members and advisers to seriously review the proposals and continue the consultation process with the business community.

Adviser to PM on Finance Dr Abdul Hafiz Shaikh, Adviser to PM on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Shabbar Zaidi and others were present in the meeting.
