An aged labourer died of heart attack on Thursday during a raid by the staff of the building department of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board at a construction site.
Amanullah Khan, 62, was working with the contractor building on a house in Lane-V of Westridge, where the raiding party tried to snatch Khan’s tools from him, after which he fell onto the ground and did not get up.
The incident happened at about 4pm, when the staff of the RCB led by Assistant Executive Officer Shakeel Anwar Jappa tried to take away some tools used for construction from the laborers working there.
The RCB staff had raided the under construction building after they learnt that commercial shops were being built in the residential locality.
The locals told The Express Tribune that the engineer building pushed the old man when he tried to stop the staff of RCB from taking away his tools.
Talking to media, the RCB official Jappa said the owner of the under construction house informed his office that a labourer had died of heart failure after the staff took away the tools and construction material.
The assistant executive office said the RCB had noting to do with the death of the labourer and they only wanted to stop the illegal construction in the residential area.
