ISLAMABAD: The markets in Islamabad are in ruins due to apathy of the civic authorities, said Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ahmed Hasan Mughal in a statement on Tuesday.

Development work in markets has stopped after formation of Islamabad Municipal Corporation (IMC), he said demanding handing over the job back to Capital Development Authority (CDA).

He asked the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on CDA Ali Nawaz Awaan, CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed and Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz to have mercy on the commercial areas of the capital and start development there.

He said that residents were facing extreme difficulties as both CDA and IMC keep blaming each other for problems. He demanded that development work in markets should be handed over to CDA from IMC.
