200mm rain was bound to create problems: CM Murad

Says ministers, mayor, DMC chairpersons, water board and other civic agencies worked hard to mitigate effects

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the heavy down pour of 200mm rain in a single spell was bound to create serious problems in the city for which everyone, including ministers, mayor, DMC chairpersons, water board and other civic agencies worked hard to mitigate effects.

He was speaking to the media on Saturday along with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail after the concluding ceremony of the three-day Urs of Abdullah Shah Ghazi (RA) at the mazar.

In response to a question, the CM said that he had held a meeting on Friday with the representatives of local bodies, including the mayor, DMC chairpersons, district councils, representatives of the Cantonment board, the administrator of Defence Housing Authority, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board MD and the Sindh Solid Waste Management Authority DG.

Responding to a question, the governor said that there was no enmity between the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. “Being the governor of Sindh I am working for the interest of the province,” he said.

On a question about the differences between the Federal Water Minister Faisal Vawda and Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar, the governor said that he would call both of them over  for a cup of tea to iron out their differences.
