‘Police Eye’ launched to trace employees

LAHORE: Lahore Police has found a new way to deal with employees involved in stealing items from factories and houses. The police have decided to register all the employees through a single mobile application. The application, launched by Lahore Police, is called Police Eye.

The name of the app is fairly self-explanatory. It serves as an ‘eye’ of the police to monitor all employees.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Ismail Kharak told The Express Tribune that he held a meeting with about 143 factories and mill owners and managers in Manga Mandi, Sunder and Quaid-i-Azam Industrial State, in which they were told to register the labourers, working in their factories and mills, with the police.

This registration will secure the data of all employees with the police. In the future, if any employee is involved in any kind of crime and then escapes, it will be easy for police to track them.

The SSP informed all traders that Lahore Police will install an app on one of their computer systems for the convenience of all traders where they will have to store data of all workers and employees. Reportedly, all traders agreed to the registration but they refused to send their employees to the police station for this purpose.

According to the SSP, so far the data of 83,795 employees of 128 factories and mills have been saved in the application. This data saved in the application includes a recent picture of the employee; two copies of the identification card, mobile number and the reference through which the employee got their job. This data is required at the time of data entry in this app.

The SSP said meetings with the administration of all major residential societies in the city will be done in the next phase.

After the meetings, the data of all domestic employees can be registered in the app, he added. “After the month of Muharram, residents of all areas of the city will be bound to register their employees.”

In the third phase, employers of shopkeepers and traders will also be registered, after the meeting with market and market administration, the SSP further said.

According to police, the data of the employees will help prevent theft, robbery and terrorism. Citizens will also know if their employees are involved in any illegal activity and the employee will know that his record is saved with the police. If the employees commit a crime, he or she will be in custody of the law.
