QUETTA: Senator Manzoor Kakar, who is the general secretary of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), has said that nationalist and religious parties are to blame for the “backwardness of Balochistan as they created hurdles in the way of provincial development”.

Addressing party members at the BAP office, he said that his party and its allies were committed to ushering in an era of development and prosperity in Balochistan despite the problems created by nationalist and religious parties.

“The incumbent provincial government is sparing no efforts in making Balochistan a progressive, educated and developed region,” he said while underscoring the importance of education as a driver of development.

“In last 70 years, nationalist and religious parties remained in governments but failed to deliver. That is the reason why they were rejected in the 2018 general election as people voted for the BAP and its allies,” he continued.

Kakar added that his party had repaid the trust of its constituents through its performance. “We have performed brilliantly in the first year.”

He said that the provincial government had worked on job creation as a priority to address the unemployment problem in the province.

Senator Kakar also reiterated that all parties and politicians, regarding their issues with the government of the day, remained on the same page on the Kashmir issue.

“Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan. We will utilise every available resource to foil Indian motives against innocent Kashmiris,” he said.
