Court directs copy of reference to be provided to accused in illegal allotment case

KARACHI:
An accountability court directed on Saturday that copies of the reference be provided to former city nazim and Pak Sarzameen Party Chairperson Mustafa Kamal and other accused in the case of illegal allotment of 198 plots.

Kamal, Lala Fazalur Rehman and others appeared before the court. Investigation Officer (IO) Abdul Fatah could not appear before the court. The National Accountability Bureau prosecutor maintained that the report regarding the accused who are on the run is ready. The accused were sent to receive the notices issued by the court.  The court expressed annoyance over the absence of accused Nazir Zardari and adjourned hearing till September 7 while directing that the accused be provided the copies of the reference.

Meanwhile, another accountability court directed the witnesses to appear before the court at the next hearing of the Rs462 billion corruption reference against Dr Asim Hussain and others.


NAB witness Dr Shakeel Ahmed could not appear before the court. The NAB prosecutor said that Dr Ahmed's sister has died so he could not appear before the court.

The court directed the witness to appear at the next hearing on August 24.
