Naan makers seek price hike

RAWALPINDI: The representative body of bread makers, Naan Bai Association (NBA), has sent a written application to deputy commissioner (DC) for increasing prices of roti, naan and paratha.

In this regard DC Muhammad Ali Randhawa has called association’s officials for discussion on August 6.

The association demanded Increase the price of Patiri Roti (brown flour) from Rs7 to Rs9 , Khameri Roti (white flour) from Rs10 to Rs.12, Til Wala Nan (with linseed) from Rs.12 to Rs14 and Paratha and Roghni Naan from Rs.25 to Rs.27.

NBA officials said they demanded rise of Rs.2 in prices of various items to meet their expenses.

They said price of 80 kilogramme (KG) flour sack has increased to Rs3,700 from Rs2,900 and superfine flour from Rs3,300 to Rs4,600 in a year. They added government made promises to reduce gas tariffs for tandoors however their bills were generated on same old tariff.
