The day is being observed for the fourth consecutive year on the death anniversary of Shaheed Safwat Ghayur, a commandant of the Frontier Constabulary Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police who was martyred in a suicide attack on August 4, 2010.
Special events were organised across the country to honour and remember the sacrifices of police officials in the line of duty.
In his message on the occasion, President Arif Alvi said that the whole nation was indebted to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country.

"Despite facing difficult situations and having limited resources, police have played an exemplary role in establishing peace and protecting the lives of people. Our security forces are successfully taking on the enemy and such elements will be eradicated soon," he said.
Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa also appreciated the terrorism preventing efforts of the police department. In a tweet posted by the ISPR DG, the army chief said that the Pakistan Police made phenomenal contributions alongside other security forces in counter-terrorism operations.

Interior Minister Ijaz Ahmad Shah said that sacrifices of the nation's martyrs were a testimony to the fact that Pakistan was in safe hands.
Paying tribute to the martyrs, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the martyrs and their sacrifices were very important in the struggle for peace and security.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that the nation will never forget the sacrifices that police officers have made for the country and that they are the real heroes. He also vowed that the government will continue to support the martyrs' families.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif also took to social media to remember the blood and sacrifices of the Police force.
