LAHORE: Opposition lawmakers rejected the price hike on petroleum products claiming the government is adamant to eliminate the poor class rather than poverty.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) women MPAs, in their resolutions they submitted in Punjab Assembly Secretariat, strongly condemned the government's conduct under which the prices were increased.

PML-N's Azma Zahid Bukhari in her resolution rejected the price kike contending that this was the first time in Pakistan's history that a record increase of Rs118 was made in petroleum products.

On the other hand, the prices of petroleum products are decreasing with continuity in the international market.

Astonishingly, the government is increasing prices of aforementioned products following its wishes. “It’s like hitting the last nail in the coffin of poor people by increasing prices on petroleum products,” she said.

She said the federal government was obtaining over Rs50 tax on per litre petrol which is highly regrettable. She demanded of the government to take back the decision of price hike on petroleum products.

Meanwhile, another PML-N MPA Unaiza Fatima strongly condemned the price hike stating the government is adamant to eliminate the poor people rather than poverty.

This is the first time that the prices are so high comparing the last decades.
