PNCA stages ‘Naach Na Jaane’

After two months of successful performances in Karachi, the play opened in the capital

ISLAMABAD: Naach Na Jaane, a play presented by Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi and Kopykats Productions premiered in Islamabad on Friday, July 26 at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA).

This play is the first ever production of Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi. After two months of successful performance in Karachi the play opened in the capital.

The play is written by Anwar Maqsood, Directed by Dawar Mehmood and is the prequel of Aangan Terha. Cast involves Yasir Hussain leading as Akbar, Sara Bhatti as Jahan Ara, Usman Mukhtar as Imran Khan, Hassan Raza as Mehboob Ahmed, Hina Rizvi as Sultana, Asad Gojar as Chaudhry Sahab.

Naach Na jaane is the tale of classical dancer Akbar, who was initially played by the late Saleem Nasir. The play is set in 1978 under General Zia’s rule in which a ban was imposed on arts, it tells the story of how Akbar had to find a job as a cook to make ends meet.

The income of the play will be donated to those writers, artists and poets who have spent their lives making contributions for art.

The play will further be continued in Lahore after the Islamabad run.
