China's Vice Prime Minister Zheng De-jiang met Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani in Islamabad on his first official visit to Pakistan.
The two leaders signed five agreements on different projects at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister's House on Wednesday evening.
The agreements include construction of a port, development in the information technology sector, improvements in Pakistan's cable system, engineering projects, and construction of a drought dam.
Earlier, Zheng met President Asif Ali Zardari who conferred Hilal-i-Pakistan, the country's second highest civil award, to him during a special ceremony held at the Presidency.
The president's office said matters related to bilateral relations, economic cooperation, the war against militants and the regional situation were discussed during the meeting.
Zheng is also scheduled to meet Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majeed and Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani.
