DG Khan cultural show ends amid song and dance

Team of 45 members from Dera Ghazi Khan puts on mesmerising performance

LAHORE: The two-day Dera Ghazi Khan Cultural Show came to a conclusion after a series of dance and cultural performances at the Colours of Punjab event. The cultural shows were organised by the Punjab Department of Information and Culture at the Alhamra Art Centre. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar attended as chief guest.

Provincial Minister for Information, Culture and Industry Mian Aslam Iqbal, Lahore Arts Council (LAC) executive director, Punjab Arts Council (PAC) executive director, PAC Executive Director Saman Roy, PAC Director Azfar Zia, the DG Khan Commissioner, Barrister Abbas Ali Khan Nasuha, senior officials, the information secretary and assembly members were in attendance.

Performances included Siraiki-o-Saib and regional dance folk songs.  A 45-member cultural team from DG Khan put on a mesmerising show, while other performances included tribal dances, jhoomar, and a sword dance.

LAC Executive Director Ather Ali Khan said that the audience enjoyed the performances of artistes and singers. “The DG Khan Cultural Show will promote provincial unity.” The PAC executive director said the show has been proven to be one of the best expressions of high arts and the strong cultural values of DG Khan.

The CM attended the cultural show and said that folk artists need to be encouraged to perform with dedication.

Various stalls, based on regional culture, were also set up to highlight the culture of DG Khan at the two-day long cultural event.
