KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to educate SMEs to add value to their products in order to increase profits, according to UNISAME President Zulfikar Thaver.  Thaver said Pakistan was exporting items like rice, wheat, maize, barley, leather and minerals – and urged SMEDA to educate SMEs to emphasize on value addition by conducting regular courses on television channels. According to him, some countries were exporting cooked rice and various products made from rice, which were being exported by countries in attractive and lasting packing for supermarkets.  He said Pakistan was exporting cotton, minerals and leather and these can be exported after value addition, adding that SMEDA should facilitate the sector by educating them on the subject intensively.
