Attempted rape of minor foiled

ISLAMABAD: An attempt to sexually abuse a minor was foiled by locals on Sunday. The alleged abuser was apprehended and turned over to the police.

According to the Bara Kahu police, the seven-year-old girl’s mother GB* said that the suspect RK* had allegedly kidnapped her daughter, L*, by coaxing her. The suspect then took her to a remote area where he allegedly tried to rape her.

To save herself, the victim started screaming. The screams were heard by passers-by who rushed to help. At this, the suspect tried to flee. However, he was caught and was later handed over to the police. The police have registered a case against the suspect while the victim was handed over to the family after medical examination.

Man killed 

An elderly man was killed after a vehicle rammed into him within the remits of the Tarnol police station.

Raja Amjad told the police that his father, Raja Kashif, was crossing Benazir Chowk when he was struck by a speeding vehicle. As a result of the collision, Kashif was killed immediately.

The driver managed to flee.

The police have registered a case but the suspect has yet to be arrested.
