KARACHI: Sindh Education and Literacy Department representative Saeed Memon has denied the rumours of an extension in the summer vacations for students. The rumours surfaced on social media, making many believe that the duration of summer holidays in schools has been extended beyond the decided date of June 30.

Memon said that no such extension has been made and summer vacations, which began on May 1, will end on June 30, as decided during the steering committee session held on January 2, 2019. Schedule for the entire academic year was discussed during the session and as decided, the new academic year would commence from July 1, he added.

He asked people to be wary of fake news, saying that some elements were circulating screenshots, stating that summer vacations have been extended, of a television channel from last year. These rumours shouldn’t be paid any heed, he said.
