Nepal keen on strengthening ties with Pakistan: envoy

Lamsar says, after political stability, her country focusing on economy

ISLAMABAD: Nepalese Ambassador Sewa Lamsal on Friday stressed upon further enhancing the multilateral relations with Pakistan.

Ambassador Lamsal called on Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr Fehmida Mirza. Besides extending invitation for South Asian Games, she discussed matters pertaining to enhance bilateral cooperation were discussed.

Dr Mirza said Pakistan was committed to enhancing bilateral ties with all regional countries. “We attach great importance to our relations with Nepal," she said.

Ambassador expressed immense pleasure over the improving bilateral ties and said that Nepal is keen to strengthen relations with Pakistan in multinational areas. “After political stability, the government is focusing on the economy, we have to rise above regional politics and look forward to enhancingcooperation. Focusing on our commonalities, we can take our relations to a new height” she said.

Both sides agreed to make SAARC an effective regional forum. Dr Mirza asserted that the regional politics should not affect SAARC. Highlighting the potential of CPEC, she said that it offers an opportunity for the region to open up and reap the economic benefits through cooperation and connectivity.

Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, adventure tourism, religious tourism, sports, women empowerment. Lamsal also extended invitation of the upcoming South Asian Games scheduled to be held in Kathmandu and Pokhara from December 1 to 10.
