Leaders and workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were unable to meet party supremo Nawaz Sharif on Thursday after the ousted prime minister's health reportedly deteriorated, reported Express News.

The former premier was expected to discuss the political situation of the country with party leaders.

The weekly meeting, however, was cancelled and only family members were allowed to meet the PML-N supremo.

Meanwhile, PML-N leaders approached the authorities concerned, with a request to let them meet Nawaz under restricted conditions but the request was turned down.

“Even in prison, Nawaz scares the incumbent rulers. Weekly meetings in prison have become the centre of politics and hence, they have been cancelled,” claimed PML-N leaders after their request was rejected.

An accountability court in 2018, sentenced the former premier to seven-year rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty in the Al-Azizia reference, one of the three graft cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with an apex court order.

Nawaz and his family members were also convicted in Avenfield case. However, the accountability court judge Muhammad Arshad Malik acquitted Nawaz in Flagship reference.

The Supreme Court on July 28, 2017, had disqualified Nawaz in the Panama Papers case and ordered the NAB to file separate cases which were respectively called Avenfiled, Al-Azizia and Flagship references.
