Cricket and rain

It is frustrating to see the organisers did not consider the weather when the country was selected as the host

KARACHI: The ICC World Cup is taking place in the United Kingdom. As exciting as it is to see a match in the Oval Stadium, or just watch the best teams across the world compete for the most coveted trophy in cricket, it is still disappointing to see so many matches being postponed or cancelled without a ball being bowled. So far, three matches have been abandoned, and this World Cup has broken the record for the most number of matches that were cancelled.

Given that the British weather is notorious for grey skies all around the year, with sunny days being a blessing, it is frustrating to see the organisers did not consider this when the country was selected as the host. Cricket is completely dependent on the pitch and the weather decides the condition of the pitch. Most of the matches have a weather forecast of overcast skies and even the teams are getting frustrated as the tournament progresses with delays or draws.
