Power outages in Ramazan

Letter June 10, 2019
The government should do away with load-shedding next year, so the citizens can observe Ramazan in peace

TURBAT: Ramazan is over, but the holy month was made difficult by numerous issues that people faced. Aside from the usual hike in prices that come as a routine with Ramazan, there was the high summer temperature that was made even more unbearable by the constant load-shedding. Our city of Turbat is one of the hottest cities of Balochistan and the shortage of electricity made it worse for the people as they were fasting. Almost the entire city knows when the power will go, but no one has any idea when the power will be back on, as that is how unpredictable load-shedding is here. I urge the government to do away with load-shedding next year, so the citizens can observe Ramazan in peace. One year is a sufficiently long time to overcome the persisting electricity shortage problem.

We, the people, wonder what the successive governments have done in the past more than 30 years to overcome the power shortage problem? It is a problem that refuses to go. The government should make sincere efforts to solve the power shortage problem.
