V-logger Mooro 'jokes' about being a child molester

Honestly, haven't we learned anything from Yasir Hussain's debacle three years back?

Social media influencer joked about being a child molester in a recent Instagram video.

The V-logger is currently on a family vacation and was making his routine Instagram stories. In doing so, Mooro, who is known for his wit and humour, engaged in a conversation with a spider present in his room.

The conversation was supposed to be taken 'light heartedly', we get it. But then he used the word child molester to make a pun. "If you (spider) crawl in my mouth and reproduce, I will eat your children up. Mein tou hun hi child molester (I am a child molester anyway)," he says in the video.

A Facebook user by the name of Kiran shared the video and called him out for the inappropriate reference.

"What he deems as joke, has left many Zainabs, Farishtas anda Abdullahs actually be consumed at the hands of lustful beasts!: she wrote in a lengthy Facebook post. "Mothers have gone insane when they witness the bodies of the piece of their hearts lying in dumpsters because some man couldn't control his five minutes worth of lust. Those families never recover! Those children Die a torturous death!"

Three years ago, that night will always be remembered for the tasteless remark made by that year’s show host, who was none other than Hussain. Ahsan Khan won the award for his role in critically acclaimed serial Udaari, that tackled the taboo of child sexual abuse.

As the actor came up to receive the award for the Best Negative character, the Lahore Se Aagay actor felt the need to crack a poor joke.

Itna khobsurat child molester, kash main bhi bacha hota… (Such a handsome child molester, I wish i was a child as well.)”, he said while pulling Khan’s cheeks.

Hussain later apologised on Instagram. He then shared, “I am just as against child abuse as you might be and should be. The joke I made is perceived differently than I had originally intended to. I apologise to Ahsan Bhai and the rest.”

It's high time that public figures understand the nuances associated with issues such as child abuse and molestation. What might be just a matter of jest for you may end up normalising a social vice.
