Peshawar city govt inks accord to set up EDU 

Through EDC, Peshawar Municipality aims for: job creation, streamlining investment flow and tax generation

PESHAWAR: The locally elected government of Peshawar, the provincial chamber of commerce, UN-Habitat and an economic think tank on Wednesday signed an agreement to set up the economic development unity (EDU) to serve as a platform for the Peshawar Municipality to engage broader stakeholders in economically developing the provincial capital.

In this regards, a ceremony to sign the memorandum of understanding was held at the Peshawar Mayor’s office. MoU Signatories included the Peshawar City District Government, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), UN-Habitat and PRIME Institute.

Through EDU, the Peshawar Municipality is aiming to attain three goals: job creation, streamlining investment flow and tax generation. Peshawar Mayor Asim Khan elaborated on his view on the utility of EDU for the economic development of the city. He noted that the city needs to create jobs and bring investments for spreading prosperity.
